Kuo Vows To Go One Better

PO-CHENG Kuo has vowed to go one step better again and win next year’s World Pool Championship after losing in the 2005 final.

Kuo was a semi-finalist in 2004 and after pocketing US$35,000 on the day of his girlfriend’s birthday, Kuo pledged to her that he would bring the trophy home in 12 months time.

“I wanted to give her the perfect present of the trophy, he said. “But I promise her I will win it for her next year.

“I was so close to the championship and my girlfriend has always supported me and I will repay her.
Kuo was leading 16-12 when a remarkable error saw him fail to hit a rail after a tactical shot – and he never returned to the table.

“I thought for a long time about the shot and I decided to challenge myself with the shot, he added.

“But it didn’t work out for me and I never got another chance.

“My opponent played a good game and he deserves credit – but I want to get my hands on the trophy in the future.”
